Cattuong Corp officially becomes a Vietnam Green Building Council Member (VGBC). Cattuong Corp insulation products are also included in database for green products and services in Vietnam (Vietnam Green Database).

VGBC is a project of the Green City Fund (GCF), a international non-profit organization. VGBC was founded in 2007 in Vietnam with the task of raising awareness and building capacity in the development of green building in Vietnam. The objective of the VGBC is to act as a catalyst to promote cooperation between government, academic and private sectors to thereby establish a more sustainable building environment in Vietnam.

Main activities of VGBC include

1. Raising awareness about green buildings not only in the construction industry, but also at the academic and government level. Besides, VGBC also directly gives presentations, participates in seminars and conferences at home and abroad, builds and publishes online resources for green building industry such as Vietnam Green Database.

2. Together with technical research and the support of VGBC members and affiliates, VGBC has completed first assessment system of the Vietnam Green Building – LOTUS system. LOTUS is based on international standards of green building. Despite some differences it is still complied to the regulations and laws in the region, in accordance with the legal system, climatic conditions and the context of construction industry of Vietnam. In addition, VGBC is also actively conducting research on the topic of sustainable building in tropical climatic conditions of Vietnam as well as contributes to help improve the legal system for sustainable construction in Vietnam.

3. With training programs and collaboration with ARUP Green Consult Asia, VGBC has built and developed two training programs – Basic courses on Green Building and Professional Consultancy (LOTUS AP). Up to now, about 200 professionals in the construction industry have been involved in training courses by VGBC.
